5 tips to keep your beach house preserved

Summer is here! Your much dreamed vacation at the beach house too, but your best moments may be compromised when you come across a place in a very different state than you thought. 

We know that keeping a house or apartment in good condition is not an easy task. When it comes to summer houses, the work can be even greater, as these environments are exposed to factors that impair their maintenance (salt air, humidity and excessive heat). 
 

Your vacation home was made for relaxing and having fun, not having headaches with problems like mold or insects. So let’s help with some tips so your home is ready to welcome you. Come on? 

1 – Exterminate the insects 

Beach houses are usually close to vacant lots, which brings a considerable increase in insects, which can be very unpleasant and bring various problems and diseases. Therefore, the ideal is to carry out a fumigation at least once a year with a company specialized in the process. 

2 – Get rid of mold with white vinegar 

Excessive heat and humidity for long periods when the house is closed brings mold in the wardrobes, and this is terrible for the general public and especially for those suffering from respiratory diseases. 

The solution to this problem is simpler than it seems. Run a cloth dipped in white vinegar over the cupboard and mold won’t grow. 

3 – Germicidal bleach for wall mold 

Excessive humidity in houses that are very closed also brings mold, which is a fungus that damages the respiratory tracts, especially in those who suffer from rhinitis, allergies or sinusitis. 

The solution for this is also simple: mix a glass of germicidal bleach with one of tap water and spray it on the stain where the mold is. It will turn yellowish or whitish, becoming harmless to health. 

4- Chlorine for the pool 

When not treated, swimming pools in summer houses can bring several diseases, especially mycoses. 

To avoid this harm, the ideal is to carry out a proper cleaning. A few days before the trip, hire someone to acoomplish the procedure and throw chlorine in the pool. 

Once you’re in the beach house, maintain maintenance, vacuum the pool daily and chlorinate it once or twice a week. 

Care for bed linen is often forgotten in summer cottages. And that’s a big mistake, because pillows tend to accumulate mites, which is terrible for allergy sufferers. 

To avoid this problem, put a cotton cover on the inside and waterproof on the outside. 

Bath towels also need special care and should be washed weekly. If you will be away from the summer house for months, store them inside a waterproof material, such as plastic.
